INTRODUCTORY SALE - 99 FOR A LIMITED TIME Get away from the city`s bright glow and head out to dark skies, where the Milky Way shines with countless stars overhead. Dark Sky Finder helps you locate ...
Great app Needs the ability to either query grid coordinates or mailing addresses or add the ability to drop pins via a coordinate inputted by the user                 Missing Address Geo Query Mustard_Tree
A necessary app for anyone trying to locate dark skies for astronomical viewing                     Excellent Brucer2again
Please update the app I do not want to lose it because y all last updated in Aug 2015 Thanks                     Love this app Drove19
This app quickly shows me the sky brightness at each location Worth the money It works well on my iPad mini and iPhone 6 base model The brightness shown in the app matches my experience of a site so I trust its predictions for a site that I have not visited                 Works well Mark H-L
The layout makes sense and the app runs smooth The only thing I would like is if the map was more realistic like Google earth The Mercator projection makes me laugh Although I don t know how hard this would be to code or if it s even possible It is of course not a necessity                     A needed application for amateur astronomer Porsche Mom
It does what I need it to do Layout is a bit plain but it does the job But I think there should be another update for new dark sites                     Very good app ateallthecupcakes
The map itself is accurate and it has useful sites but the bugs make it not worthwhile If you click on anymore than one dark sky site for more info the app crashes every time Plus the app support page leads to a domain for sale and this app hasn t been touched since 2014 sure looks like these bugs aren t getting fixed Don t get this unless it s updated         Could be good but no longer supported Guster11
Some decent information here but it s very dated some of it several years old Making it worse the app hasn t been updated in a year and crashes frequently         Helpful but buggy ZigZagLens
Just what I needed after purchasing a telescope Great so far No crashes yet On iPhone 6 with most updated iOS                     Great so far phluid13
The aap is good but need a browser option             Good But need a few more options Anime-boy
A profound weakness in this app is the lack of ability to type in the coordinates of a possible observing location to see how it polluted it looks This app needs the ability to chose between publishing a location or dropping a pin as part of a search for possible viewing sites I wrote the publisher about this a year and a half ago and he promised to look into it but the latest release does not incorporate it The app requires you to publish the location before it displays it on the map That s bad for a number of reasons 1 The location might be on private land and unavailable to the public so it shouldn t be advertised 2 The possible location may turn out to be horrible but now it s officially listed in the app and potentially misleading to users 3 Some observers like to find secret spots that they like to keep private to avoid crowds Yet they have to advertise them here These weaknesses limit the usability of the app and the lack of publisher follow through is a disappointment The app has promise but the current situation warrants a low rating     Limited by lack of ability to do private locations DominoDoggy
I am very pleased that I can use this map on an iOS device since it s difficult to control on any other websites that offer this My problem is that the app will crash about 40 50 of the time when I try to tap on the info button when a location is selected I m using an iPhone 5S running iOS 8 0 2 Another major issue for me is that I don t like how I have to either choose between turning location services on all the time even when app is not running or just turn it off all together then have to manually turn it on in settings if I want to use it It would just be nice if I could do like other apps do and just have it running when I open the app Other than that everything is great It would also be nice but not necessary to allow you to copy the address or gps location so you can copy paste it into another Maps application like Google Maps or whatever From personal experience I try to stay away from Apple Maps solely when I m driving in unknown rural areas because it has taken me on some strange dirt backroads in the past that it shouldn t have If you fix the crashing and location services issues then I will surely increase my rating to 5 stars                 Very cool app but needs some bug fixes iwasatACL
Many of the dark sites have innacurate information I clicked on a site or two in one state and the infor said the location was in a different state Not showing the current location was a drawback too             Disappointed terrymjb
Love this app I am amazed by how much light pollution is around Nice to know exactly where to go for the best star gazing as well as finding the sites most recommended for their awesome skies                     Great for star gazers niko.blue
Awesome app Would be useful if you could search for a location other than that great for finding class 1 bortle sites                     Great Worth a buy Bernards89
Huge improvement adding new updated maps for every inch of the world Plus tons of new dark sites Looks like 700 800 for the USA alone Nice                     New maps for whole world pchristopher76
According to the app it shows dark sky for North America but it only shows a small portion of Canada and the north part of Mexico Thats misleading     Mexico and Canada are North America Justme4444
This is a great app everything one could ask for if they are looking for dark skies near them However it freezes a lot and takes a long time to load some screens and honestly great idea of clicking on the directions link to open up the location in the maps app doesn t work It just sits there So I need to note the site name google it to get the address then type that into maps Kind of a pain that could be avoided if the link worked The app gets a 5 5 for concept and 3 5 for these faults so 4 5 total                 Great app but freezes Craig1234
Fantastic App                     FIVE STARS LosAngeles90631
Excellent and easy to use MUCH better than going onto Clear Dark Sky website and having to bounce between street map and dark sky map to find a site Been waiting for something like this for a while Thank you                     Excellent YouAreGoForTLI
Very well designed and easy to use Tons of observation sites located all over the place which is really helpful for finding dark places to watch a meteor shower with friends or go take my telescope Seems like new locations are added daily although some could use more detail like is there camping available although many have this type of info Spoke with the developer and maps for the entire world will be coming soon                     Find great places to observe the night sky SallyS123
The idea is a good one but there are two basic problems 1 The data the map is based on looks like about 7 8 years old It needs to be current as of like say last 30 days 2 The data is not detailed enough to be useful in say if you life in a metro country where are the micro areas that have darker skye due to geographic shadows or less commercial street lighting so that you don t have to drive hundreds of miles just to find reasonably darker skys Somewhere in the US government someone is actually tracking all this on a night by night basis down the 1 10 acre pixel world wide The US Dept of Ag and US Dept of Commerce USGS EPA not to mention CIA DHS FBI DOD etc I am sure that data set is available if the right request is made If not I have connections that can make that happen but like everything dealing the the Gov if you don t ask you don t get             Grade C DremWkr
This app will become more useful as more sites are added For most users it will not be a dark sky finder but an away from bright streetlights finder which is still a valuable service Currently there are only a few sites listed within a hundred miles of me Questionable whether a sole developer can moderate entries forever to make the app stick among astronomers Difficult to add sites only by dragging the map and dropping a pin Needs to be able to find addresses and lat long coordinates             Great Idea Needs Content Bozocity
Awesome App I m more of a casual astronomy fan but I used this app to take my girlfriend on a late night driving date and she loved it Perfect for a romantic getaway                     Sweet App AuJack11
An amazing app that gives you a way to easily find a place to escape the city lights This app meets a unique need and does so seamlessly Another great product from Skidmore Apps                     Great useful app mbowen
Finally a smooth easy to use app that allows me to locate great places to take out my telescope It s hard to find places devoid of light pollution and it s sure annoying to drive all the way out to a place I ve just heard about only to realize when I get there that there are lights everywhere This app allows you to see for yourself via satellite where the darkest skies are located You can read write your own reviews about sites You can also mark locations that you d recommend to other astronomers and stargazers Great app Skidmore Apps                     Incredible Astronomy App Thankful Astronomer
