With the Henle Library app a new era begins for classical musicians. Daniel Hope The Henle Library redefines the way you experience sheet music. Get the most reliable Urtext editions in the world on your ...
Designed for classical musicians Great tools for fingering pedal bowing Would be nice to have playlist tools freehand writing improved Can t understand complaints about cost Urtext editions take money and time My time isn t free either and I d much rather spend money on the Henle library than waste hours searching for PDF files                     Life changing hneuwirth1
5 stars for the scores themselves the scholarly editions are indispensable for anybody who is serious about music study I like that I can buy either a collection or just one piece from a collection and it s much more portable and immediately available than paper scores However the reason I can only give three stars is because I find myself not using the app as much as I want to for actual practice learning because I would give it 1 star for its notational capabilities It s very difficult to write anything legibly with the Apple Pencil and barely better using a finger Part of this is because of the way that it logs individual strokes as separate boxes part of it is because you can only notate in the score by zooming in to a particular section This makes it very difficult to make notes on a larger section This doesn t seem like a problem that should exist I find myself using ForScore for most of my scores because it s so easy to take notes in there It s also really easy to use Apple Pencil with a lot of note taking apps like Nebo OneNote etc so I don t know why this issue hasn t been addressed I hope you address this in a future update I really want to use the Henle app for my work but I NEED to be able to write in the score more easily             Great scores poor notation tools benjaminpiano
I m sort of tired of waiting The scores are great but honestly They re too expensive That I could live with if the app was better I ve purchased a of scores the complete this or the completes that and it s a pain trying to find the ones I want Need to create playlists Fingering is tiny Need to be able to zoom in No more money sorry credits from me And anyway No Brahms piano I ll update this review when they update the app         Too Expensive and needs more updates CoxBingo
I installed the app created an account as prompted verified my email address and now have to buy credits before seeing any score other than one page static previews Why don t I get the 50 credits others wrote about A Credit is basically equal to 0 10 unless you buy a big lot which can get you a 20 25 discount To give you an idea of the cost of scores in credits Chopin Preludes cost 150 credits Bach WTC 420 Bach cello suites 320 Bach violin solo sonatas partitas 250 Beethoven complete piano sonatas 720 Brahms piano quartets 520 To the reviewer who wrote that credits makes it sound like a space opera     No credits for you marchetype
I check basically every day They say to suggest additions but it s 2017 but you know what people want here Complete Liszt More piano music Some rare hard to finds Curated collections Anything that gets the speed of items here Otherwise most of my time is spent on iCScores and the internet open classical scores                     App is great but releases are too slow devtudio
I m really trying to like this app but I am finding myself using it less and less I NEED AN UNDO BUTTON AND APPLE PENCIL SUPPORT Also I wish the metronome could be set to any number not the numbers set up from hundreds of years ago         APPLE PENCIL SUPPORT huggy bear
I love the idea and the execution of this app but with one big issue that makes it unusable for me The app does not provide the option for HALF PAGE turning so that I can see the top of the next page and the bottom of the current page at the same time When reading a 1st violin part in a string quartet it s essential to be able to see both this page and the next page Without that I will use ForScore and wait for Henle to add this feature From a performer s persepctive this is not just a detail this is the difference between usable and not usable             Can t Use Without Half Page Turns hazelrah6
I am enjoying many of the features of this app However my library is already large with solo piano collections of Bach Beethoven Chopin and Mozart each of which has lots of individual pieces in the collection and I am finding it very frustrating that there is no way to make a playlist as in ForScore or to at least bookmark or mark favorites That to me is absolutely necessary to make it easier to jump from one piece to another without having to scroll through a whole collection as has been noted by at least one other reviewer I am also frustrated that even after I have chosen the printed layout option which I prefer for a given score it seems to revert to the custom layout the next time I open the app and go to that score The last used layout should be the one that opens each time So for now three stars             Definitely needs playlists and SamiraP
My metronome isn t working             Metronome not working Tpwokai
First I spent 50 credits on a sample I did not want because of the unforgiving select process Is this how all purchases will take place I ll have an expensive library full of pieces I didn t intend to buy Second you spend credits rather than cash Exactly how credits relate to cash needs to be explained thoroughly before an account needs to be created Not after Third the tool itself is very limited when compared to ForScore or PiaScore I print on 9x11 paper which I can not do from Air Print If I can not export to another app or create a PDF printing is of little value Maybe as a supplement to their excellent paper publications I wouldn t mind paying a fee extra credits which are what again for that option         Too many unknowns and bad first impression JAHO2011
I m going to have to give this 2 stars As a classical pianist and fan of Henle scores I was happy to finally get immediate access to scores that I like to use as well as use them digitally without having to scan them in myself However Henle has decided to build an entire app around the process While it has some promising features it s miles behind something like forScore which is possibly the best app I have ever used for something like this To give you an idea of the oversights of the Henle app 1 No ability to export your music to another app 2 This wouldn t be as big of a deal if the annotation wasn t absolutely atrocious for the Apple Pencil 3 If you choose to perform non Henle scores you need to open an entirely separate app for those These omissions really strike me as completely careless I m open to trying to again after some updates have been made     Carelessly done Jalexander355
The features of this app are nothing new Sorry I won t be paying for what I can already download and use for free     Not much more than a way to make money from works in public domain MrRealityCheck
B renreiter and Eulenburg have also released digital editions here in the App Store and I highly recommend both But Henle has got them both beat in the inventive way they ve reimagined their scores for a new format These not only look great the layout is highly customizable annotating is much easier than with other other two publishers I haven t yet tried an Apple Pencil navigating repeats has been dealt with ingeniously and the ability to switch between editors and fingerings is just incredible One thing I wish for is the ability to make a playlist of sorts If you buy say the complete Chopin etudes they download as individual pieces This is fine if you re sitting at the piano but if you re listening to a recording you ll want to be able to page sequentially through all the etudes without having to pause and go back to your library and pick each one in turn Overall this is fantastic I hope for the quick addition of much more repertoire I ll buy every new release                     Excellent start Peter_NYC
No vocal music available and no way to import my own music because it s a proprietary format     No Vocal Music No Way To Import Rubadazub
This thing is freaking great I m a cellist and there already are a number of good pieces eg complete Haydn Op 76 and Beethoven Op 18 Plus they promise their entire catalogue will be available as the months pass The program does a lot more than say forScore it s because the music files are especially created so you can do things like move staves around and change actual printed fingering and bowing which you can t do with a regular PDF file A genuinely forward looking move by Henle that in one step advances the music publishing business 300 years I hope they do a huge business with it and win lots of rewards It s that good                     Wow carrickp
I also downloaded a violin piece being a pianist because I was trying to scroll and figure out my options This kind of thing really does not leave a good first impression with a user More user experience testing is called for here             Another victim of the downloading system Dobie127
Just glancing at the first screen I see I have 50 credits so I tap to look at the music and voila I have spent 50 credits on a Beethoven sonata for violin and piano Well no big deal I think Maybe Kate is studying this on violin and I ll be ahead of the game by having looked thru the piano part But there s no piano part Maybe I can try to adapt it for flute and get some use out of my sample My experience has been abrupt Should I come back I wonder what the pricing is going to be 50 credits sounds like something out of a space opera     I didn t get very far hettingr
The app itself is sleek and intuitive as far as design and function are concerned but I was looking forward to a more extensive read existent vocal music category Nevertheless I m sure development is coming I look forward to it                 Promising bassrob2
i wish there was a much bigger catalog specially for Piano Solo Brahms and more                     Great need more choice Ouriel Ohayon
I just downloaded the app today eager to download my free score and try it out I looked at the choices and tried to scroll down in case there were more It automatically downloaded the Bach score but I m a pianist How do I undo this I hope you can help Thanks             Help 13.1Julia
