Great little free app Have used this to read and modify MS excel and word files While MS does have excel and word apps this is a nice free alternative pretty easy to use Have used it for over a year now There are periodic updates and it continues to work well for me                     What a Great App quant guy

I haven t had much success in trying to use this App in the last few years but today I am going to try it again hopefully it has been improved is worth re downloading I d appreciate of other users can help me with some of these questions feel free to add any more advice as it will help all of us who haven t got much use from this App as expected 1 Of course if I can create a document such as a resume or an essay I d like to print it I was never able to do so when am tried in late 2012 2013 2014 even though I bought a new wireless printer at that time Does anyone know how to print documents from the App if so Please include as much info as possible Currently I have a regular printer hooked up in the house if necessary I have another brand new wi fi printer still in box but since my last one didn t make any difference I d rather not set up a new one unless I m sure it s compatible with printing from my iPad mini or IPad Air in the last an IPod touch I am also curious if I am away from home if it is possible to print from any printer such as in a store such as Staples or Kinkos or at the local library or a friends house or at my local Drs Office or any office of they give me permission to send a document to their printer 2 I don t recall if I can use the word processor offline to type at least I hope I can so is it now possible for me to type wherever whenever using this App in my iPad Mini which is still running an older IOS 8 as I often come up with ideas while on the go I d like to be able to write essays letters inquiries in the App save them so that when I am online later that day or later that week I can easily transfer the word document from the App to either an email or to a website inquiry form that requires the inquiry be typed into their form This way I ll have my inquiry written out can simply transfer it from the App to the proper form or to an email if it is transferred to an email will it only show up as an attachment or will it also show my inquiry in the body of the email 3 This is somewhat related to previous question as I often want to attach pictures to inquiries or emails I send out Is it possible e to attach pictures to my documents even within the documents while still being able to type above or below or around the pictures if I choose to do so 4 I ll have to play around with the App now to see what is updated included how it s working so any extra info would be greatly appreciated 5 What do you think this App is worth Have any users paid for the use of this App if so do you find that it was worth the cost I ask because I received this App during a Back To School Special Sale limited time offer for free but it claimed to cost a lot of money I think 99 or so I obviously expected it to be a great App yet to date I have not yet used it for anything important when I tried using it back then I found it lacking clear instructions not even worth keeping for free so after a few years I deleted it for the space on my device I am re downloading it to give it another chance but the ratings are not so great I see competitors offering free services with great reviews To sum it up if this App could simply allow me to type letters resumes inquiries more easily transfer them to a printer in other cases to awe form in other cases to an email or even to Facebook or to a message board as I often write detailed reviews of products it would be nice to be able to do so anytime while not online then easily transfer them into the websites later on but also have a copy for my records Being able to add pictures having nice fonts guides is even better the ability to print to a printer is likely the most important of them all This is along review request for help from my fellow users but I ve had this App for 4 5 years without any actual use so this is my last chance to see if the people can help me since the App did not so far It would also be great if the App offered al of the scanning technologies to save receipts important bills stuff as competitors if theApp would make it easier possible for us to copy coupons from the Internet to a page we can use in the stores to save money by showing or scanning our screen also by making it very easy to print out all of the Internet coupons available that would save us bargain hunters coupon savvy shoppers by being able to simply transfer all coupons we find online over to the App then print them out easily as necessary Whether we print from home or from a store like Staples or Fed Ex Kinkos or the local library or even the business establishment or retail store offering the coupons that draw us into their business only to find out we cannot save money without having printed these coupons so if they cannot scan them directly from our screen then it should be easy enough to just print the coupon from their business printer It may sound crazy but we are all using mobile devices there are so many online coupons these days but then they want us to print them unless it is easy for us print from our mobile devices then we never get to use the so if anyone has any fix for that situation please let me know I use an iPad mini I ve used an IPad Air several IPad touches I also have son Android cellphone but I rarely use it online as I sAid I have another new in box wireless printer by Kodak but my last one didn t do much different than my regular printer so I have a regular bubble jet printer hooked up by my modem I do not have a desktop computer hooked up since around 2012 I specifically started buying these devices as well as the wireless printer so as not yo need a desktop any longer that is due to medical reasons that began it is now easy comfortable to use these smaller devices than to sit at a computer desk Used this app for about six months without much problem except the klunky iTunes method for transferring files to and from your Mac Probably I should have been backing those files up on a daily basis with a sync folder but I failed to do that Mea culpa Nonetheless after a couple of intense consulting sessions over the past couple of days where I recorded crucial data in a xls file I was chagrinned when two of those files came up with an error stating Cannot open file Neither could Excel 2011 repair them They were toast full of garbage and gibberish all original data lost I think I can restore my iPhone to the most recent backup and potentially recover the damaged documents in part but not the most recent changes There s another wake up call Back up your iPhone daily I was using backup to my Mac but suddenly the cloud backup is looking really good to me if it can happen on a daily or even six hour routine Anyway back to Smart Office 2 Am I a little peeved at the data loss Yes Could I possibly have prevented it by more diligent backups I goofed I trusted this app Mistake The app s graphics and those of the developers website as well as their epithet Artifex I think tell the story Their focus is on appearance and the coding side of the operation could use some serious upgrading If you go to their forums you will see this phrase quite a lot Sorry to hear you are having problems Small consolation in the event of loss of crucial data IMHO Another thing you ll see a lot on the forum pages is the admin saying You haven t given us enough data to allow us to address your problem paraphrased Fair enough but how about having a simple ticket submission forum where the user is queried for the relevant data rather than many repetitive forum replies calling out the user s failure to supply sufficient data Wouldn t that be a little less tedious for both admins and users Reading the forum one could easily get the impression that Artifex doesn t think much of its users But maybe I m just thin skinned You have a look there and see what you think of their customer service Bottom line Of the many apps I use on iPhone I ve not experienced data loss like this which is apparently connected to the app s not being able to save xls files accurately My recommendation Keep shopping If you care about your data and if data loss is going to seriously crimp your style skip this app Alternatively back up any files that it creates or modifies using iTunes and perhaps setting up a sync folder to automatically back up those files Still if a few hours pass between iTunes syncs and your document is corrupted you could be out of luck Nice graphics and slick if a little cryptic UI Artifex but beef up your coding and consider user s data loss an unacceptable event Tighten it up show evidence that you have and maybe someone will be willing to give Smart Office 3 a shot I don t think it will be me     Data loss in an app is unacceptable unit337

I had an earlier version that was fine However this version does not allow one to cut and paste from Smart Office to ANY other program including Pages Word Notes etc When I contacted the vendor to solve the problem their response was You have uncovered a bug While the contents of the clipboard from a cut copy from within SO2 is not available outside of SO2 the reverse is not true You can copy cut from outside of SO2 and paste into SO2 I observed these behaviors on several devices with several operating systems in Word documents PowerPoint Presentations and Excel spreadsheets I ll issue a bug report on clipboard behavior and we ll try to correct it for the next release Unfortunately I cannot give you a time estimate Thank you for reporting this issue Absolutely unacceptable Copy Paste is a basic function of all Office software and apps Until this is corrected DO NOT purchase this app     Incompatible with other apps McGinty01

I wanted to explore other word processors and this office suite was free so I got the app As soon as I started working with a Word docx it reformatted the margins to its own default I think 1 I use Quickoffice which may not be available any longer but it accepts whatever margins the doc already has I prefer Quickoffice and will delete this app     Reformatted Margins to its Default L Vincent

While this is called an office it is merely a text editor so there s only that to evaluate And this text editor opened a legitimate Word docx document allowed me to edit and save it as docx and then when I tried to open it in Word Word could not open it and said that it was not a Word compatible document If it happened the first time there s no need for me to give it another chance Only way to save that document was to open it again in Smart Office 2 select all and copy and paste it into a real open or new document within Word You ve been warned     Warning Not very smart Popability
