Yes sometimes it has issues with downloading the most recent issue And admittedly thats a pain But its not all that frequent for me I enjoy reading the paper this way particularly when its really cold outside and I dont want to go get my real paper This is a much much better app than their other one which just blows sorry DMN           Overall I like it

Many cite the issues with the DMN app It has loading issues and signon issues It appears to slowly degrade and become more and more dysfunctional long loads can not load latest issue random login popups etc App seems to remember its history even if reloaded One solution I have found is as follows delete the APP power down the iPad reboot then download the APP and login It seems to work for me on iPad 2 with IOS7 Redo about once a month Not a well done app and web site is degrading with more users weekend especially a problem           Marginal APP partial solution for iPad

This app crashes all the time Best advise for ppl who cant get the paper to read load when you finish reading set the paper back to page 1 before you close it Still this app is very frustrating        Love reading the DMN but

User has to Sign in constantly Gets stuck on old editions Forget about printing a recipe or a coupon     Pretty Worthless

Its a great tool except that it gets stuck on the last edition I read date There doesnt seem to be a way to refresh it to get the current edition           Impossible to get new edition

This app will never work a full week without having to delete then reinstall I do not see how DMN can charge nearly 70000 per year for papers with torn pages print so light you cannot read and wet most days we get some rain     Very poor app The only thing worse is the Customer Service Reps who do not have a clue

Youre all read to read the paper then what happens Youre repeatedly asked to sign in and the app refuses to recognized your user name andor password Just contact tech support you say Good luck Theres no online chat or email Instead youre supposed to call an 800 number You finally get through voice mail jail to the right department and the phone just rings off the hook No one ever picked up So if you want to read the Dallas Morning News on line good luck Youve got about a 50 chance of reading it or a 50 chance of being ready to throw your iPad against the wall in complete frustration        Works about half the time

I love this app when it works but lately Ive had more trouble with it than its worth Ive had to uninstall and reinstall on a regular basis Also there is a bug once you download the offline it locks up You have to close it then reopen and that seems to take care of it        Frustrating app

With an ePaper subscription different from DMN premium this app browses the actual print version of the daily paper virtually I find it intuitive for iPad touchscreen controls with several compelling features It is responsive on this 3rd gen iPad and has not crashed or glitched in any way during an intensive two weeks of use Winner                 The way I want to read The News

I really like this app except for the new black background the old teal one was much easier on the eyes otherwise great     almost great

As the title says its great when it works but it asks for login credentials at odd times and at time it wont download the current edition The only way I can get to work is by uninstalling restarting and then reinstalling PITA Theres no function to delete old editions           When it works its great

New editions stall out during download You can get 3 to 5 pages then you must close the program and start over Calling the support gives no answer as to how to fix it From the comments its been a know bug for many months but no one at the DMN or Olive software care enough to fix     New editions dont download there is absolutely no support

I cant seem to get it to share articles via fb or twitter keep getting error messages        Wont share stories

My primary use for the app on the ipad is reading the paper on planes because I travel a lot I download several days before a trip and almost every time the app hangs up in airplane mode on whatever was the last issue you looked at before taking off Unless this gets fixed the app is worthless to me     Cannot open downloaded papers

The Dallas Morning News app is easy to read and navigate It really is better and more convenient to read than the paper version BUT I often cannot get the most current days paper to download I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app with no improvement For example its Wednesday and the most current edition downloaded is Mondays paper Unacceptable Something needs to be done about this or unsubscribing is in my future           Good but big problem

I am overall very pleased with this app I am even thinking about discontinuing my paper copies of the newspaper and just keeping the electronic edition A few minor tweaks would make this a fivestar app I would like to be able to set it to download the electronic edition every morning as an option Also the formatting of text sometimes is a little bit wonky when you look at it in the electronic format Words can sometimes run together and subject titles that should be in bold print arent thus making it hard to tell the difference between sections of an article It would also be great to be able to zoom in on comics with a double tap just like you can with other articles I find this version much more friendly over all than the other DMN app              Overall very good app

Nice App only flaw is there isnt anyway to delete issues daily newspapers once youre done with themKind of stupid to be able to add issues but not delete them           NEEDS THE OPTION TO DELETE ISSUES

This company is a ripoff They clearly state on their web site full access to Subscriber access on an iPad for 231 per week When you go to sign up they demand 391 D get this app Dont do business with this fraudulent company Apple should pull this app for fraud     Been Ripped Off

Come on people Fix the silly and constant login problem Two or three times a week it doesnt download and you have to relog in or reinstall to force it In the regular app world this is almost unforgivable because it is basic That said the app is otherwise great But great doesnt mean much when coupled with severely annoying Ive downgraded my review from 2 to 1 since the login problem has been constant and apparently the developers dont care enough to fix a longstanding problem Update 7514 With the latest version they seem to have finally fixed the login problem Why it took them so long is beyond me But outside of a couple small glitches here and there this really is an impressive reader Ive changed my review to 4 stars not 5 if only because people should never have to wait this long for basic functionality updates              App is great when it works which is not often

I work out of town during the week but love a daily paper Rather than haul out my laptop first thing in the morning to read the eEdition I read the DMN on my iPad but it was always disappointing I want to decide what I want to read and a lot is left out of that version or is hard to find And I despise newspapers web sites for morning browsing This app worked right from the moment I opened it iPad 2 All my favorite parts are there and the tabs let me jump right to the section I want The pages turn easily zoom works flawlessly links from the front page go right to the full story Thank you DMN for finally giving this subscriber what she wants                 Finally A proper paper away from home

Makes reading the paper fun Its just like the paper version in that you see the whole page at a time and you turn the pages in the same way I like the quick zoom in to read the articles I wouldnt change a thing                 I love this newspaper format

Although I have been using and like the other DMN app you just cant replace looking at a real paper and flipping through the various sections I think the functionality is great and was well thought out There are several options to navigate between sections I tend to prefer the top border option that allows you to quickly move from section to section Once in a section you can flip the pages by swiping or touching the arrow on the side of the page to turn the page When you see an article you like all you need to do is touch it and it highlights and enlarges Done reading an article just touch the screen anywhere If you have to complain about something it would be the initial download time but this is solved by clicking the download for offline reading option first thing and letting it download while you are doing other things                 This is what I have waited for Thank you

What a great idea to read my paper online when the carrier is late Thus the principle is right on target Unfortunately this app rarely loads and I leave for the day without reading the paper The Dallas Morning News often becomes the Dallas Evening Paper for me Maybe these hiccups would be understandable during a start up time but please get some tech people to fix this Thank you     Seldom works

Frequently this app is a source of frustration itch no way to get help or restore it to proper functioning Several days later it will start working again When it works it is great     When it works vs when it doesnt work

Review updated Apr 7 2012 I was so glad to get the Dallas Morning News DMN on my idevice which is something Ive been asking about for years There are several things I like about this app and several things I find annoying LIKES 1 Zooming ability its so high def that I can zoom in really close on my iPad and still get superb quality 2 When you want to see the totality of a single article up close you can doubletap it and it will open just the one article with all text together which helps you avoid having to hunt around for the continuation in another section or page 3 Comprehensiveness of each newspaper i really feel like im getting the full paper newspaper experience Obviously i cant pencil in the puzzles or use the coupons directly but they are included for your reading pleasure 4 There is a 7day free trial 5 Combined access to both the website and the tablet app downloads on my iPad with a single eSub My significant other who doesnt have an iPad can read online at home on the PC while I read on my iPad while traveling 6 Full offline access to a paper once youve downloaded it UPDATE 126 the version released today now has a button for this although it was working fine before The button is a little quirky It always displays even after youve already downloaded that particular paper for offline reading 7 There are 6 different font sizes ANNOYANCES 1 When you do doubleclick on a single article the text comes in funky half the time A lot of the words are mashed together But this issue is not consistent it seems to be hit or miss UPDATE 26 this is hit or miss While most of the articles have been fixed I stumbled across 3 last Friday where words were mashed together making the articles slightly unreadable in those areas 2 When you click on a single article to utilize the quick zoom feature the act of getting out of that mode and back into the full paper is odd I am still having trouble figuring out where to click to get back 3 Download time is about 510 minutes for one full newspaper I understand why it takes timeand this is faster than the magazines I eSub to but its still annoying refer to 5 below Note that I have an average internet connection speed at my house 4 I am not sure if theyve fixed this feature yet but every time I want to download a new newspaper I seem to have to sign in again Why doesnt it just save my login information behind the scenes UPDATE 26 I have to sign in at least once per day now 5 Like other magazine apps you cant download the newspaper behind the scenes ie once you leave the app I dont understand why all of these apps are like this Id like the ability to start the offline newspaper download leave the app and go do something else and then come back in 10 minutes and have it fully downloaded Unfortunately you have to leave the app open and wait 6 There is very little control on what you can archive and keep Your options are to keep 3 5 10 or All back issues meaning how many days back are displayed to you which is what you can choose from I wish it were organized differently papers over a certain date in separate folders and I could pick and choose which old dates I want to keep on my iPad forever and which ones I want to delete 7 The navigation of the back issues needs some work They flip like a rolodexId rather they look more like a list perhaps organized in folders Id also like control of those folders to populate and name them how Id likelike the Kindle app for books 8 Lately the app has been crashing randomly This doesnt happen all the timeabout 1 in every 4 times Note that I use this app about 4 times per week FYI for those of you who do not have an eSub to DMNIm not sure how useful this app will be for you I tried to register for a noneSub account and the app did nothing when I logged in Your best bet may be to stick with the regular DMN app or go online which has limited free content available PRICING When you go to the DMN website to sign up for an eSub the price listed there is only 999month which is different than what iTunes is quoting 17month I originally signed up for the 999 sub in early 2012 not being able to find any other option This sub type worked fine against the app for a couple of months Update 47 The 999month sub no longer supports the iPad app Apparently they dropped support several weeks ago When I was notified of this after not being able to log into the app and contacting customer service I promptly cancelled my monthly subscription The quality of news and lack of features in this app is NOT worth 17month        Disappointed in price

This APP is unreliable frustrating and a total waste of money Just this week I have had to call Customer Care twice because my paper would not download The first call produced instant results Paper delivered immediately Today four days later the woman who answered didnt know what Digital was Asked me to check around my driveway and my bushes Eventually she figured it out and said she would send me a link to rest my password4 hours later still no link She also said I would receive tomorrows paper I am hopeful but doubtful This APP is so last century     Horrible APP

When this works its wonderful but for the past month or more it wont download todays edition until late in the morning Their help line is listed as open at 600 am but doesnt open until 700 am This is totally unacceptable service        Still far from reliable

The app is great at first but full of bugs For example it gets stuck on a particular edition and wont refresh the edition list Right now Im stuck on Mar 31 and its April 28        Nice idea but buggy

I have had this subscription for quite a while and it just seems to get worse I dont know who Olive software is but management should start over I probably wont renew if this does not improve App unstable Many mornings never loads I can force close the app and sometimes the next issue loads sometimes not like today Friday I cant get out of Wednesday Being forced to link your account subscription is a pain and not user friendly Every time I have had to start over due to changing my payment method I have to call The only reason I give this one star is because the folks I talk to seem nice     Pathetic App

Getting the DMN on my iPad is great when it shows up but most of the time the paper fails to download if you forgot to get out of the app the day before There is no option to redownload the paper for the current day you just have to wait until it eventually downloads or you have to turn power off the ipad and power it back on and hope it loads after that This app developer must not use the app to read the paper or they would certainly fix this problem I have never seen another app that cant download unless you are out of the app Come on DMN fix this problem It has been happening since the Olive upgrade Nov 2013     Unreliable delivery

I dont always have time to read the paper and dont want to screw around with a glitchy app when I do Two calls in 30 days for a password reset with a third tonight that only rangand rangand rang I finally hung up deleted the ipad app reinstalled and was able to log in The page scrolling and zoom arent as smooth as whatever revision they were using this time a year ago I think calling Customer Service is the only way to reset the password but Im not sure and you cant tell from within the app Cmon DMN surely theres a support agreement with whoever is responsible for your app Check the fine print maybe you can cancel early Software is supposed to get better not worse At least the first two calls were answered by pleasant representatives     Sad to See

This is the first time I have been motivated to submit a review of an app I am so impressed i have been reading the Dallas Morning News hard copy in the morning and using the online version on both my iPad and iPhone for new articles during the day I always felt I would miss something if I didnt have the hard copy With this app the hard copy is no longer necessary It is the first app where I can literally read the newspaper online And when traveling i never have to miss the local news or save old newspapers to review when i get back home Every time I show the app to another user they are impressed Mostly they just say cool I read both the Wall Street Journal and New York Times online and i like this app best The only negative is it infrequently glitchy but I have had a similar experience with any app I use a lot                 Trail breaking and Cool

Ive tried several newspaper readers and find the DMN reader by Olive to be the best of the lot The only problem I have with it is any touch of the screen and you loose your place This is especially true when reading in the document format a great feature which allows you to read a story as a document rather than in the printed paper format I wish they would remove the side swipe feature from the document format so a mistouch of the screen does not move you to another story              Better than many

The app wont accept my login so I havent been able to use it Emailed support a few days ago but havent heard from them So as far as Im concerned it doesnt work at all     Still waiting

Now that I am able to log in I am very pleased This app gives me a virtual print edition and allows me to bring up stories into an iPad reader view Works seamlessly and leaves little to be desired Well done                 Does exactly what I want

Like the other reviews have said this app fails to download either the most recent issue so youre stuck on the last one or doesnt access the servers at all and doesnt get past the loading screen rendering the app useless It also forces you to sign in repeatedly at odd times Its Monday morning and the app is stuck on Saturdays paper Ive been an ePaper subscriber for many years now and the app has never been good When it works its fine but when it doesnt you cant access the newspaper The bad thing is DMNs newsstand app is incomplete containing only some of the days newspaper content and repeating articles from previous days for up to a week with no way to get rid of them Overall I give Dallas Morning News an F for technology Im going to all DMN and ask for a refund for the days Ive been unable to access my subscription     Cant access the Paper
