I switched from ForeFlight to WingX Both are great platforms but I like the interface much better                     Great software LotusOH
Love WingX pro I tried fore flight for a couple of years and came back to the best                     CFII T&HAviation
I took a four year hiates from flying and got back into it again last year I had the best of avionics including a Garman 430 This program is really better in many respects and Only requires an iPad and a GPS transmitter I m only flying vfr now but could not have done the flights I have done in the busy northeast corrider weaving my way around different air spaces It s a great GPS and has many many other functions that I don t really use I Love this program thank you PS I got my IFR currency and love using the approach plates Especially like the Geo referencing so I can see my plane s exact position as I do an approach I have no problems with slow redraw rate or anything else Support has been excellent Program has everything flight planning E6B IFR and VFR for maps approach plates Airport information and weather Just got ADS B from Open Flight and am looking forward to using it on my iPad to display weather and other aircraft Great program thank you                     Really love this program Mapav1
Great app Ive been a user for 4 years and continue to try the competition This is the most intuitive easy to use flying app Less clicks per flight as well Should be 5 stars                     Great flight app Easier than foreflight Mike5250 iTunes
Hands down WingX is simply the best Great company friendly support                     Best EFB IflyJeff
I have only used FltPlnGo and this app and there are many features of this app I prefer I will use this for in cockpit backup over FltPlnGo but will use the other for flight planning purposes The only useage issue I am having right now is finding how to turn on the breadcrumb trails Is this even an option                 Almost great FlyinRyin
I ve evaluated and used many EFBs This one should be free and then maybe I would renew my subscription For some reason They just do not seem to be supporting WingX anymore New features and fixes seem to take a VERY long time Foreflight seems to be supported much better however having compatibility issues Still looking     Tried several EFBs Still looking out4adance
Maps will not pan smoothly Reposition zoom or pan a map and must wait for the map to redraw Continuous screen flicker as maps redraw almost makes the app unusable Same happens with any map layer selected Using other apps until this gets fixed Use with caution         Maps constantly redraw Very annoying Pilot011
I use this app on a daily basis after the most recent update which was supposed to fix the weather not auto updating the weather doesn t update AT ALL Obviously this is a huge problem and as a long time customer of WingX I m beginning to seriously consider making the switch to foreflight These little bugs that we are still dealing with are absolutely ridiculous     Weather doesn t download at all now Jdieujufuuhioehwjeo
I have found WingX Pro misses traffic that displays accurately on FreeFlight System s ADS B View app and also on ForeFlight I have the FreeFlight Rangr 978 UAT transceiver so have ADS B Out In in my Bonanza and should get all traffic available not just partial traffic I find I do receive more targets with the other apps mentioned above I reported this problem to the tech team in the past and sent screenshots but Jim stated they could not replicate the problem I thought OK maybe the range or some other circumstances caused the problem but this morning as I visually observed a Cessna pass about 1000 ft above me that WingX did not show but after switching to check with the other apps mentioned and did see that traffic displayed I am no longer going to use WingX         Misses traffic other apps display N650Q
A little bit of a learning curve but once you get it the interface is far better than any other efb Definitely worth it                     Very impressive brokensphere
This is a good app I would like to see that ability to navigate by lat long coordinates Also in Hiltons tutorial he shows flying at an altitude of 3000 and flying under a class B shelf but the lower right display indicates he is in Class B airspace Not correct Also the stacked airspace notifications are incorrect Newer versions may have fixed this and if so I am sorry for the 3 star Good features and good app but wrong info is just bad news in our business             Needs improving Password Issue
I ve been using the app for 6 months now and love it and certainly wouldn t be without it But it would be nice if the constant improvements didn t sometimes kill functionality Recently I had a problem now fixed where my own location wouldn t appear very disconcerting And now in the latest version it s no longer calculating fuel and time usage even with the parameters entered Update I just worked out the issue The new version 8 6 9 calculates times based on altitude If the altitude you enter doesn t make sense I had 1 000 feet when the elevation was higher it won t calculate it Remove the altitude as for the no wind case and it works fine                 Great app but bugs introduced frequently chipchap42
Does so many things VFR and IFR lots of handy functional little shortcuts to make it easier to use in realtime The only suggestion I d have to add would be to overlay sigmets convective sigmets airmets over the chart in real time That would be a lot easier than flipping between this and skyvector                 Love it Jim31415927
Used them all but keep coming back to WingX even better now with the Replay feature There were first SV split screen ZAON and ADSB traffic support geo ref taxi diagrams as part of the base price none of this basis versus pro nonsense just great features for one low price 100 recommend this dont drink the kool aid the others try and make you drink Update 8 4 16 WingX supports a LOT of ADB S in solutions including the home built Stratux Why pay more for the same features on other apps when ALL FEATURES are included in the one price                     You have tried the rest now try the best Scr12
There s a lot of options in the EFB space these days but for me WingX is the clear leader when it comes to introducing innovative new features It also continues to have the best interface for actual in cockpit use If you are VFR only the WingX basic subscription includes many features Brand F and Brand G reserve for their premium subscriptions making WingX great value to boot                     The best EFB in the AppStore G in CO
I have been using this app for more than five years and know it well many of my fellow pilots show me Foreflight and I show them features that I would not fly without The biggest is the split screen I can have my sectional or ifr chart on one screen and an approach plate on the other with geo reference of my plane on both If you fly ifr is is the best app out there Download it and give it a try You will love it                     Beats Foreflight in feature by feature Luckcpa77
The downloads are unnecessarily large Absolutely need to be able to select which sectionals to download instead of having to download the entire US and having it consume your device s storage         LARGE downloads keep me from using Israel3
What a fabulous source of information to enhance safety of flight Training will never be the same love it                 CFII
This app is a total ripoff You obviously get what you pay for Doesnt do anything promised and its laggy Go buy AirTrack Its the real deal     Waste of 2
I am a very serious IFR ATP aircraft owner and this app has proven to be a great resource to add to my onboard GNS 530 and Garmin 496 The latest version has what I consider to be the musthave feature for serious GPS IFR navigationthe 4NM buffer feature This way you can quickly scan 4NM either side of the direct course centerline and determine the highest obstacle or terrainnot within that 8nm width and give that to the pilot to be able determine the FAA mandated lowest safe minimum offairway altitude for that direct GPS course This feature is fantastic I keep it displayed as an option on my sectional view and enroute with the unique splitview of my low altitude enroute IFR charts gives unparalleled situational awareness and safety Great productI have compared both it and Foreflight sidebyside and this app in my opinion is the best at this time                 Great iPad app for pilots
I have been using WXP for several years to support me flying both VFR and hard IFR and I am very happy with it Hilton SW is very supporting when needed and they do take pilots suggestions serious Overall a great product                 WXP
Ive flown with WingX for two years now and renewed with a 3 year subscription This company cares about getting it right and about what is useful for pilots I preplan routes and save them for the right time to cruise that territory I added a Home waypoint near my home field to facilitate round robin routes Home is then the last waypoint to which I return and then enter the traffic pattern Runway extensions are a real help when going into a strange field Route information aids setting radio frequencies ahead of time The 4nm borders around the line of flight are helpful in setting up for the downwind leg All in all I wouldnt want to return to paper charts Thanks Hilton Jack Voss Pilot of the Ruptured Duck                 My Highway In The Sky
I got ready to fly a couple of weeks ago I updated the databases in the software boom DFW terminal chart gone So it being Saturday I called support left message They called me back Monday and said ohh we are changing the way it works so we removed them Ok so where do I get it now Uhh terminal charts will be back in next update When is that Uhh soon So today I get ready to fly and the weather is 4 hours old It wont update to newer I once again check the website no mention of outage I left message again for support     Unreliable product and support
Version 8 is a much needed improvement Very clean and polished UI for iOS 7 Love the pebble integration pebble steel and WingX pro is a match made in heaven                 Best Aviation app
For two years Ive said WingX is the Best navigation app available for the iPad However Garmin appears to have upped the standard as far as EFB 3D synthetic vision is concerned Garmin just released what looks like a better 3D synthetic vision product This is an area that I believe WingX should update and upgrade sooner than later But in fairness I guess we are talking Garmin here king of the GPS and provider of a huge array of avionics products I dont know if any current EFB can compete with Garmin in this area Hopefully Im wrong and WingX will respond with if not a better product a 3D synthetic vision upgrade that is equivalent              No WingX Updates Garmin 3D Synthetic Vision
Sometimes you can give too much information This app does a great job of presenting the pilot with excellent situational awareness however I found the app to be cumbersome and not very professional looking and at times symbology was written of the top of pertinent information The interface needs an overhaul improper use of color and contrast However the app did work very well for the most part and is not really any better or any worse than the competition One real plus is Mr Goldsteins updates are quick when issues are found              I went back to Garmin
I recently had to buy a new Skyradar D2 unit because the old D units GPS failed All the ADSB functions still work on the old I use WingXPro with the SkyRadar and the AC is 2020 compliant ADSB out All things were good until the D units GPS failed I got all the traffic possible and all the NEXRAD etc With the D2 I get no 978 traffic Alexey the developer of SkyRadar says WingxPro needs to do an update They should be decoding messages 30 and 31 for the traffic Instead they are using an outdated message that he removed some time after I bought my original D unit I can run the two units side by side and alternately connect old or new to WingxPro The old shows traffic the new does not Both old and new show traffic on the SkyRadar ipad app but I would rather use WingxPro     Doesnt Work with Skyradar D2
Raise the roof                 Very Powerful
Very disappointed with the frequency and extent of updates as compared to the competition WingX was the best at one time but theyve consistently fallen further behind        Losing faith in WingX
ForeFlight gets all the love but WingX is still the best Split screen is nice easy to get to most functions and I think its the only one with georeferenced taxiing One star removed because their website is a mess its nearly impossible to find what you get for what price level And I wish they would go to a la carte pricingI dont fly IFR and dont need approach plates              I still the best
Beats the competition hands down                 Fantastic app
I should have read other reviews before I updated Never had a problem before but I cant touch but a few buttons on the map screen else WinX Pro crashes It is currently totally unusable Great app lucky I also have Foreflight which is good for different things like the world map                 big big problems with iPad 2 running iOS 61
Garmin foreflight Hmmmm     Huh
I have been using WingX for two years and find it to be excellent when it works Unfortunately it suffers as does Foreflight from the Apple bluetooth bug which causes it to occasionally lose connection with my Dual external gps rendering the moving map useless On a recent ifr flight 30 minutes before landing I got the 10 battery life warning shut down the iPad until just before landing and turned it back on only to find that it was unable to connect to the gps which was working fine with lots of satellites and 66 battery left I used my iPhone held by my wife for the remainder of the flight In my opinion they made a very bad programming decision to only invoke the Auto APD automatically display the apt diagram when landing with a chart in place On another ifr flight in vfr conditions I landed at an apt with a very confusing set of taxiways and almost had a runway incursion due to the apt diagram not displaying I cant imagine a situation where one wouldnt want to see the apt diagram after landing At least there should be an option to always show the airport diagram This app suffers from very marginal support I have made numerous phone calls and sent many emails without any response from the company On my one recent successful interaction with them they said that my email was mistakenly put into the trash as was my recent phone call apparently It would also be nice if they had a more complete user manual Foreflight shines in both of there areas For these reasons together with the extreme difficulty in using the iPad display in bright sunlight I have chosen to return to my former policy over the last 30 years and use paper charts           Good app terrible support
Ive tried twice in three weeks and nothing     No email support
I dont have kccb diagram here app is fine but it should be improved              Could be much better
WingX just keeps getting better and better Now with two moving maps what more could you ask I have been impressed with its stability and usability in flight While it has everything that the professional airman could ask of it it is also extremely easy to use Its preflight planning functions are spectacular and the way it integrates DUATS briefings is terrific If you are looking for the ONE aviation app for your iPadiPhone this is it                 Wing X Professional Grade
Foreflight has updated numerous times sent out emails and has generally been visible Hilton has gone silent with no updates since Oct 2013 In this business that is a long time Im not getting a good feeling about this           Oh oh where are the updates
Theres a lot of options in the EFB space these days but for me WingX is the clear leader when it comes to introducing innovative new features It also continues to have the best interface for actual incockpit use If you are VFR only the WingX basic subscription includes many features Brand F and Brand G reserve for their premium subscriptions making WingX great value to boot                 The best EFB in the AppStore
Ive used WingX for several iterations and it has consistently exceeded my expectations Integration with a number of third party hardware solutions rather than bolting you to a single ADSBAHRS system was crucial for me Ive used WingX with my Sagetech Clarity SV and have done numerous dog rescues for Pilots N Paws Once I had a complete electrical outage on my panel With my backup handheld radio and WingX on my yoke I was actually quite comfortable navigating to my home airport I as well as the dogs I rescue are safer because of the situational awareness as well as the knowledge that the charts and airport information is the best and most recent possible From my observation Hilton Software seems to be on the cutting edge Other aviation packages seem to magically come up with new stuff after WingX has had it in the field for several months I remember when WingX was the only major aviation app that had track up I was using another app concurrently and emailed that developer about a track up feature and was told that it wasnt something that they felt was desired by their customers FastForward about a year and guess what That app made track up a feature and tried to make it look like they were first to come up with the idea when in fact WingX had that for ages Thanks Hilton Software for daring to be edgy enough to be innovative while in such a demanding market knowing full well that competitors will take your ideas and spin them as if they came up with it all on their own                 Precisely what you need for Aviation Awareness
I have used garmin aopa and foreflight I have a foreflight subscription from flight school because it is what was recommended by instructors Once I showed instructors everyone switched This is by far the most advanced reliable and easy to use EFB on the market I have used it for 2 years now and do not see any need to change anytime soon Fantastic product at affordable pricing There is no reason to strictly fly paper charts with tools this powerful and affordable                 Wingx
Amazing App that includes pretty much everything you need for preflight planning inflight nav and info and postflight analysis Very easy to use keep up the great work                 All Inclusive and Easy to Use
Thanks for the update any chance we can adjust the altimeter setting in the next release iLevil AW pressure altitude comes at 2992 inHg                 Love it
I have been using ForeFlight for 4 years and love it I am only looking to use WingX because my ADSB transponder makes reference to it In my quick review of WingX one thing I find it does not have is moving weather maps I have found the ForeFlight to update faster than my on board hardware I have used it in the air and on the ground On the ground when hurricane Sandy came whipping up the coast at a quick glance I got more information than NOAA could give me Where probable tornadoes were super cells and flooding ForeFlight is awesome above the ground and on the ground My verdict is not out yet on WingX other than it is less expensive        Pic
Just wanted you to know that your routing improvement is outstanding Being able to include your entire route including DPs STARs and IAPs seamlessly and easily into the flight plan is one of the best features WingX Pro has to offer The folks at Hilton Software are clearly pilots with an excellent understanding of the needs of the IFR community and were able to incorporate these needs using a very userfriendly interface A big THANK YOU to your company                 Departure to Arrival Seamless Flight Planning
I have been using this app for over three years I purchased it after using foreflight and several others on a trial basis This app has it all And they are constantly adding new features Jim at customer service is knowledgeable and helpful I highly recommend this app                 Fantastic App
You guys just keep making this better I love the black box feature that records the entire flight Keep doing what youre doing                 Amazing EFB software
Update since they recently added regular notams this app is perfectly usable both for planning and in the air As far as SV there are no mountains around here but I thought the SV would help in finding an airport or runway if the windshield became frosted over or covered in oil I figured since I had the ipad anyway the 100 was cheap if I needed it I also bought the 795 Levil mini G AHRS figuring it would be a backup to the attitude indicator and turn coordinator if both went out in IMC works OK with an app called ihud What they offer is nothing near synthetic vision that any of us have seen albeit anything else is a whole lot more money I was hoping to get something close to the SV in the Garmin 796 Basically if you are near the ground the ground will turn an orangish brown or red depending on how low you are If there are lighted towers most seem to appear as little black sticks on the green background Unlighted towers dont seem to appear Some sticks were there where there were no towers that I could see Flying directly at or next to a 2000 foot tower at 1500 feet just showed me a black line on a green background not something that was about to kill me Runways also look like little black sticks There is no way to see the difference except a runway may not be standing straight up It didnt have all the runways for the airports I was looking at in the air Midway showed 2 runways and there are MANY runways there and there is no way I could spot a runway and line up with it Even on final there was no way to see the runway infront of me which looked like a black stick for a tower More useful for avoiding mountains If you want to blow 100 to see if it will help you from hitting them Id suggest NOT buying the 795 AHRS unit I dont think its useful with WINGX I sold the one I bought The rest of the program works OK Clunkier to use than foreflight and slower to update the screen but OK The weather in WingX isnt as slick as foreflight The Baron radar aint very good Support is pretty bad to nonexistent They never answered my email with questions about the SV I didnt get a phone call until maybe 5 days later after I left a voicemail The support guy said they were all out of town I couldnt download updates one day and left a message they all timed out and when they called back a day later they said they were upgrading their servers All in all they dont seem to think much of their customers Ill probably continue to subscribe to the basic version for 75 in the future as a backup for foreflight And since I got burned on their SV I doubt Ill be tempted to try anything else from them that they come out with in the future The support guy that did call me back told me that their SV wasnt for runways I didnt see anything saying that on their website and I saw press releases specifically saying it showed runways The 100 SV was just throwing 100 in the garbage Live and learn              Synthetic Vision is a joke but the rest now works well
Excellent nav and traffic display in my experience I just installed the FreeFlight UAT transceiver so now have ADSB OutIn in my Bonanza Was not certain if the new device would work as the previous In only devices did with the app but was very pleased to find full traffic overlaid on the moving map displaying other aircraft with range speed altitude and some trend info Have not worked with the weather yet Have not had any issues with the app lagging I am using a 64 gb iPad mini with retina so it has the faster processor After getting some weather experience will update but am very impressed so far              Very good wADSB
New updateradar takes a very long time to load compared to before              Radar loading problem
Dont have time for all the sign ups and downloads Staying with ForeFlight        Complex
I took a four year hiates from flying and got back into it again last year I had the best of avionics including a Garman 430 This program is really better in many respects and Only requires an iPad and a GPS transmitter Im only flying vfr now but could not have done the flights I have done in the busy northeast corrider weaving my way around different air spaces Its a great GPS and has many many other functions that I dont really use I Love this program thank you                 Really love this program
Easier to use the garmin or foreflight But sadly unstable on iOS 7 Keeps dropping out to ipad home screen especially when flipping between screens such as charts AFD etc Though easy to get back in Had to keep powering off iPad Not something you want to be doing in flight           Unstable
WingX Pro7 presents all of the information I need when flying IFR or VFR and does so without being a distraction The latest version made entry of DPs STARs and IAPs to a route even quicker simplifying the management of ATC reroutes while in flight or even in the flight planning process With WingX Pro7s ability to work with nearly any ADSB receiver I use the Dual XGPS170 and so many other systems Aspen Clarity ZAON NavWorx etc I find WingX Pro7 to be the most comprehensive EFB available for iOS                 Already the Best and Still Getting Better
Its hard to overstate what a great application this is The moving map awesome Reliability awesome Ease of getting information on say airports while inflight and making adjustments to the mission on the fly awesome Seamless integration with my Dual GPS or wifi awesome Seriously That said there are some elements I wish were better For example the learning curve is steep and the documentation is disjointed much of it referencing outmoded interfaces Part of the learning curve issue I think is that the user interface is not always intuitive I often find myself asking hmm where did I find that last time Once you get it though wow The second perhaps bigger reason for deducting one star flight planning is adequate There are far better tools available for free online that what WingX provides for flight planningThis is more a statement on the state of flight planning tools than on WingXs competence in that area Im disappointed to have to continue to use external apps for that reason but in a pinch WingX will do the job              Almost Perfect
Used them all but keep coming back to WingX even better now with the Replay feature There were first SV split screen ZAON and ADSB traffic support geo ref taxi diagrams as part of the base price none of this basis versus pro nonsense just great features for one low price 100 recommend this dont drink the koolaid the others try and make you drink                 You have tried the rest now try the best
Downloaded this new version last night and it corrupted my WingX Pro version 80 Selecting settings and the find buttons on the map page kicked me completely out of WXP Selecting any of the bottom row buttons on the Route Planning screen did the same I am using an iPad3 with IOS version 7 Had to delete the app and start over Suggest you think about this possibility when considering this latest update I went through this same scenario for years with the AnyWhere Map system I stopped updating my iPaq until others posted the all clear for the posted update Hope this doesnt become the case with WXP 11914 update Reinstalled the new revision and had the same problems Double checked my IOS version and it was actually 613just too many revisions to keep up with In any case per Hiltons warning regarding issues with IOS 6 believe it and wait for their upcoming fix Still love this software     Corrupted my last version
The newest version has an has made my Clarity ADSB Box no longer functional It says the battery is zero not correct and no longer loads radar Wing X is my favorite APP but this version has some issues I have tried to email Wing X customer service and never receive a reply Please fix this issue I would like to use my ADSB box again        My Favorite Flight App But
This is the absolute best planning and navigation software out there As an Army aviator I have used this for years and it has never failed me This software is so great that our battalion commander stated in a briefing I will never fly in the clouds without it                 Best planning and nav software
Great program Use it on every flight Would like to see the weight balance back              Wing X Pro
The other ones may have some additional bells but this app has up to date TFR data displayed where the others did not meet my expectations Wingx data storage requirements are much smaller faster and more inclusive than the other I tried I would like Wingx to bring back the flight planning function The WB would also be nice to bring back                 I tried the other but I am BACK
I am a veteran commercial pilot 30 yrs flying all kinds of airplanes This app does everything a flying app should do Split screen mode is fantastic and unique Was one of the first to allow ADSB integration Annual cost is very reasonable for full IFR coverage I tried the others Fore flight Garmin and Jepp but this one was and is the best Dont leave the ground without it                 The best flying app ever
I take time to compare things that I purchase especially if the are of substantial or ongoing cost such as an EFB is I want to select WingX Pro because of the totality of features but there are two glaring issues 1 No electronic users guide Consider every instrument in the cockpit has a guide for its use that can be found in the POH or AFM You can store both of them on your EFB and that becomes very useful if you have to reference it in flight If you use an EFB and need to reference the users guide in flight for some frequently unused feature or perhaps because you do not fly often enough to remember the intricacies of the EFB it is better to have a users guide to reference in flight When newer versions of the EFB are released the learning curve goes back up again Being able to check your EFB Users Guide while flying and study it when not flying is the best way become proficient in the EFB Access to the Internet watching videos to find what you are looking for and trying to determine which video to watch are not things to be doing single pilot while flying 2 When WingX Pro displays the sectional everything is fine while flying due north or if you are using the North up orientation but as soon as you use track or north up and the map rotates from true north confusion ensues If you fly with a glass cockpit with a MFD this might not be a problem but if you fly with a sixpack or you use your EFB as a way to confirm what is on your MFD the time wasted looking down mentally orienting the sectional physically turning the EFB so that you can read information on the WingX Pro sectional you might find yourself spending an inordinate amount of time looking down not out In a pattern or busy terminal area this is dangerous I believe the FAA should mandate similar to POH and AFM requirements all portable avionics in the cockpit have either a paper manual or an electronic manual in textualpictorial form and absolutely NO videos like most other EFB programs I am NOT saying the instructional videos are not useful In fact they are very much so But I do not want to have to take the time to watch a video when I can thumb through an active PDF to find relevant information My 3 star rating reflects the importance I place on the two issues If they were satisfactorily addressed I would be giving 5 stars           Only 2 complaints against an otherwise champion
If you update to this version you will no longer be able to upload your flight to your Avconnect account Not liking it I used Avconnect to track all my maintenance ADs SB as well as my logbook 03102015 update Avconnect logging still missing in the newest version     Avconnect logging
Best copilot you could ask for                 Great product
This is a neat program but I am having one issue that I cant seem to get resolved The nexrad weather and text weather load instantly when connected to wifi but with ADSB they load so slowly that it is basically unusable Imnot sure whether or not the problem is the app or some connectability setting Ive written two emails and a week later I have yet to hear back Until I can figure out what the problem is this app is unuseable for me With this sorted out it would be a great app           Super slow adsb loading of nexrad with missing blocks and low resolution
I just returned home from a Florida Santa Fe Florida trip I have WingX Pro7 on my iPad and my iPhone 6 Your product performed flawlessly I wouldnt go anywhere now without it It makes navigating so easy that I fear that my VOR NDB and DR skills will atrophy And having weather displayed via Clarity was invaluable as there has been a lot of weather in the southern US the past two weeks Thanks for a great product from a happy customer                 Great product
